Importance of iron
Healthy blood for a healthy you!
Iron is an essential component for blood production and allows red blood cells to transport oxygen throughout the body. If you don’t have enough iron, your body is unable to produce sufficient red blood cells, leading to feelings of fatigue, decreased immunity, and increased chances of premature birth in pregnant women. It also plays a role in maintaining healthy cells, skin, hair, and nails(1).
How common is
Iron deficiency is one of the most common nutrient deficiencies in the world and affects over 25% of the world’s population. It is the most common nutritional deficiency in the United States.
WHO recommendations. “Daily iron supplementation is recommended as a public health intervention.. for the prevention of anemia and iron deficiency (2).”

Why b-complex vitamins?
B vitamins play critical roles in many key metabolic processes in the body. As a group, their collective effects are important to many aspects of brain function, from energy production to DNA/RNA synthesis, as well as that of numerous neurochemicals and signaling molecules. They must be obtained from food or supplements, and while most supplementation focuses on b-12, research describes that optimal levels of all eight B-vitamins are critical for optimal physiological and neurological functioning. This same review shows a significant proportion of populations in developed countries suffer from deficiencies of one or more of this group of vitamins and concludes supplementing the entire B-vitamin group “would be a rational approach for preserving brain health (3).”
